I am saddened to learn about the tragic passing of Hon. Asot Michael, longstanding, dedicated member of Parliament for St. Peter.
As authorities actively investigate his murder, let us do everything in our power to offer our assistance, while holding them accountable for delivering the justice that he and his loved ones deserve. This is a sad state of affairs in our nation and I am hopeful that no resource will be spared in seeking justice.
Hon. Asot Michael will be remembered for his charismatic, well thought out deliberations in Parliament and as a fierce advocate for his beloved constituency. Just over one year ago during my by-election campaign in St. Mary’s South, he provided sound advice and strategic guidance and supported my candidacy as the “people’s choice.”
His death is a great loss to the community of St. Peter and the nation of Antigua and Barbuda. I stand with his loved ones, constituents, friends, fellow Parliamentarians and the nation in celebrating his life and legacy.
With unity and determination, it is my hope that we can turn this great loss into a catalyst for unity, progress and empowerment, ensuring that his memory inspires greatness in all of us.
May the memories of Hon. Asot Michael be a source of comfort and may his soul R.I.P.
